COVID-19 Recommended Testing Protocols
The MDamerica COVID-19 Recommended Testing Protocols provide guidance for COVID-19 testing for organizations of all sizes.
Protecting the health and well-being of your employees and customers is critical to maintaining a safe work environment. To help reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus, we have developed recommendations for frequent screening and testing of employees.
Although no testing method or protocol can provide 100% detection or protection, we believe these recommendations provide a high level of detection and protection against the spread of the virus. These recommendations should not be used as a clinical assessment tool and they are not intended to take the place of medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. These recommendations should not to be construed as legal or medical advice. No guarantees of the effectiveness of these recommendations are expressed or implied.
For healthcare facilities, screening is recommended twice daily and should include symptom screening and temperature checks at the beginning and end of the day/shift for staff. Screening and temperature checks should also be conducted on all visitors enter the facility.
Recommendations
Daily Employee Health Questionnaire:
It is important to assess the health of each employee before they enter the workplace. We have created a sample questionnaire on our website which can be customized for your organization. This form can be filled out daily by employees and the results emailed to the person(s) overseeing your corporate health and safety program. Click here to review the sample form: COVID-19 Health Questionnaire.
In the event an employee's response indicates an elevated risk for the spread of the COVID-19 virus, you can take appropriate action to assess and mitigate the risk before the employee enters the workplace.
Screening and Testing
Our testing protocols have been developed to provide a high level of detection and prevention. These protocols can be modified based on your companies needs and budget.
Screening for symptoms and exposure:
Your health questionnaire should provide adequate information to assess the current health status of your employees and the risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Temperature checks are recommended on all staff and visitors daily.
Employees Presenting with Positive Symptomology:
In the event an employee presents with active symptoms, you should have them testing using both the rapid test and PCR methods. If the rapid test results are positive for IGG, IGM or both, the employee should immediately leave the workplace and see their physician for care and monitoring. If the PCR test confirms the rapid test findings, the employee should self-quarantine and seek medical care. The employee should only return to work after they have received clearance to do so by their physician.
Employees Presenting with Potential Exposure to COVID-19:
In the event an employee believes they may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus as a result of contact with someone who is known to have or suspected to have the virus, a rapid test and PCR should be performed and the employee should immediately leave the workplace, pending the test results. The employee should only return to work after a negative rapid tests results has been confirmed with PCR testing. The employee should undergo repeat testing with rapid and PCR testing each week thereafter for 2 weeks.
Employees Presenting with no Symptoms or Elevated Risk Factors:
For those employees who have presented with no COVID-19 related symptoms and have no elevated risk factors, we recommend monitored using a weekly rapid test, along with random PCR testing.

COVID-19 RESPONSE-Rapid Antigen Testing
On-Site Active Virus Detection
Early detection of COVID-19 is critical to isolated potential spread of infection. The rapid antigen test for qualitative detection of nucleocapsid protein from SARS-CoV-2, provides highly accurate results in just a few minutes. The same device can be used to test individuals who are displaying symptoms of other viruses like Influenza. This active virus detection method offers fast, accurate and affordable results, enabling users to quickly mitigate the risk of these viruses spreading.

Utilizing the on-site, FDA approved Rapid Antigen Test is an affordable and extremely effective method of detecting and preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus. This testing protocol offers a 97% sensitivity and can significantly reduce diagnostic costs by minimizing the need for more costly laboratory testing.

COVID-19 RESPONSE-RT-PCR Diagnostics
Laboratory Solutions for-SARS-CoV-2 Real-time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel
The RT-PCR testing method is the most widely used diagnostic tool for the accurate detection of the COVID-19 virus. We offer both standard nasal and oral specimen collection options. Our affiliated laboratories are located throughout the U.S. and results are usually available within 24-48 hours. Implementing this testing option in combination with our rapid antigen on-site testing service offers one of the most comprehensive solutions in the industry.
The SARS-CoV-2 test is a multiplex assay that targets three key genes: ORF1ab, N, and E, that scientists believe are key to accurately identifying the presence of the virus in patient samples.
This assay is to be ordered under the guidelines issued by CDC and various departments of health to identify the presence of the virus in symptomatic patients who have tested negative for other respiratory viruses.

COVID-19 RESPONSE-Automated Serology Testing
On-Site and Off-Site Automated Antibodies Testing
For those organizations with a large workforce looking for a more robust testing option, we offer an on-site or off-site moderate complexity testing for COVID-19. This option offers a more accurate testing platform for IgG and IgM antibodies detection and can be installed on-site, in a mobile laboratory, or specimens can be sent to our laboratories for immediate processing.
Testing Platform Benefits:
-
High volume output (100 specimens per hour)
-
Highly accurate & efficient
-
Lower cost per test than other methods
-
Can be utilized to run up to 65 other blood tests, in addition to COVID-19 antibodies detection
